THE MODERN TRAINING DILEMMA

Traditional martial arts classes face a time crunch. Tai Chi has become slow choreography. Kung Fu schools focus on forms, leaving little room for conditioning.

You sense the gap. Either you're practising without power, or you want the warrior's workout minus years of memorisation.

That's why we created KF4F.

For the Kung Fu, Taichi & Martial Artist

Your mind knows the movements. Your spirit understands the art. But if your body remains rigid or frail, the connection breaks.

For the Wellness Warrior & Fitness Enthusiast

Taste authentic Kung Fu and Taichi through dynamic workouts. Experience martial arts and internal power without memorising never-ending forms.

Our Kung Fu Styles

Our Kung Fu Styles

As one of the best kept traditional Tai Chi Chuan styles adhering to the classics, it embodies a meditative yet powerful art of spiraling. In our classes, we focus on its practical techniques, including wrestling, kicking, push hands, and striking.

Lineage

Passed down from Grandmaster Wu Jianquan, through Zhao Zhongbo, Gong Xiaohui, and Chen Youcai, personally transmitted to Sifu Yang Yifan.

Our school's lineage traces back to the Zuo family's Pigua Tongbei from Zuo Baomei of Cangzhou. Therefore, our forms are traditional and focus on practicality rather than flashy movements.

Lineage

Originating from Dong Haichuan, it has been passed down through renowned masters such as Shi Jidong, Wu Junshan, and Li Shilian.

Hebei-style Xingyi Quan is an internal martial art inspired by spear techniques, emphasizing linear movements. It hones your mid-range skills and enhances power delivery from the Dantian.

Lineage

Originating from Li Luoneng, it has been passed down through renowned masters such as Liu Qilan, Li Cunyi, Huang Bainian, and Li Shilian.

Yuanhou (Ape) Tongbei Quan is a Northern Kung Fu style known for its practicality and explosive power. It combines the Five Elements and animal forms, offering a fun and direct way to learn Kung Fu.

Lineage

Weapons hold a central place in many Northern Kung Fu styles. We teach the Miao Dao (Sprout Saber), Da Qiang (Great Spear), Shuang Gou (Double Hooks), and more. In class, we practice partner drills and individual weapon technique training.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A: Not at all. These arts have lasted for centuries because they build your whole body and mind. In fact, the first 20 to 30 minutes of our traditional classes usually focus on fundamentals like strength, mobility, and coordination.

Actually, there are still many traditional kung fu schools that force students to build up a level of fitness with things like horse stances and holding postures for months before learning routines and forms.

At Kung Fu Quest, we take a more modern traditional approach.

  • A: That’s a common myth. Tai chi and kung fu both require a healthy amount of strength. Muscle helps you control, redirect, and absorb energy—even in self-defense when someone comes at you with real force. Strength and quick reflexes make you more adaptable, not less.

  • A: Not at all. Everyone starts somewhere. You’ll build strength, balance, and mobility as you go. Even simple moves—like standing on one leg or crouching—help you get stronger and more stable over time, no matter your starting point.

  • A: You don’t need to be a martial artist to enjoy KF4F. In fact, it’s a great way to build transferable skills for life—like coordination, confidence, and resilience.

Think of KF4F as your primary and secondary school curriculum, giving you a solid foundation.

Our traditional kung fu school is like choosing a specialised course at university, for those who want to go deeper.

And if you want something truly customised, personal training is always available.

  • A: Absolutely! Coach Ray leads most KF4F classes and is bilingual in Cantonese and English, so language is rarely a problem. For private or online classes, Master Yeung is also fluent in Swedish and Mandarin. We're here to make sure everyone feels welcome and supported, no matter your language background.

  • These tend to be in Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung, Kowloon or Central areas.

However, I am always opening new classes and trying new locations and spots. Best to reach out on social media or check our timetables for the latest information.

    Especially if it’s typhoon season!
